Those of us in New Zealand were all looking forward to gathering in person at Te Papa in Wellington from January 31st.  Like you we have been thinking carefully about the transition currently occurring in the country’s COVID rules.  Geothermal professionals understand risk and prioritise health & safety.  Our organising team are conscious that many companies and organisations are limiting non-essential travel and gatherings in the coming months.

That landscape means we have reached a decision to run the technical sessions, keynote speakers presentation and industry updates for the upcoming NZ Geothermal Workshop into a fully virtual event – taking place online on February 2nd and 3rd, 2022.   The event team will be in contact with all speakers and exhibitors soon to work through the details.

Online networking and exhibition spaces will be integrated into the event.  It will be an action packed couple of days – do block the time out in your diary now.

The first day of the workshop was programmed with content from Government, industry and iwi.  We’d like to delay this part of the event until we can run it as in-person event, and will be working with the NZ Geothermal Association to potentially combine that content, the NZGW conference dinner, and the NZGA winter seminar.  Dates and venue to be confirmed – but keep an eye on the LinkedIn pages for the University of Auckland Geothermal Institute and the NZGA for further updates.  We have dates on hold in late 2022 to hold a full NZGW at Te Papa in Wellington.

For those who have already registered for the February event – we’re definitely looking to offer partial refunds to reflect the fact the February portion of NZGW is scaled down and online.  We’re contact you with details as soon as we can.

If you’re affiliated with a sponsor – thank you for your ongoing support.  We’ll stay in contact about sponsorship implications.

Finally, we hope everyone enjoys a break over the upcoming holiday season.  2021 has been a second year like no other!
